The Art of Jennifer DeSalvo

Sculpture

Aisling Irish Pub-Tini

This was a gift for a friend of the family who had a bar and also an Irish background he loved it! Foil armature, Super Sculpey, painted with acrylics and sealed. The "drink" is made from a two part polymer with pigment dyes.

Bull Terrier-Tini

This fun sculpt was one of my first in my "Tini" series. I wanted to sculpt this breed because it is one of my favorites and is also one of the most interesting looking. Super Sculpey over foil armature painted with acrylics and sealed. The "drink" is made from a two part polymer and colored with pigment dyes,

Elephant

This piece was a commission for a customer. This was fun and challenging with all the different textures going on. Super Sculpey over a foil armature painted with acrylics and sealed.

Hatchling Dragon

With this piece I wanted to practice sculpting wings and finer details. Super Sculpey over foil armature painted with acrylics and sealed.

Penguin Holiday

A happy penguin on holiday having fun in the sun. Just a fun piece! Super Sculpey over a foil armature painted with acrylics and sealed. Parasol added as the umbrella and he was mounted on a wooden base stained an ocean blue to enhance the beach feeling. If I were to do another similar sculpt I would probably add shells to the base.

Pink Flamingo-Tini

Created this simply because I wanted to sculpt a flamingo. His long legs were the most challenging of all and very fragile. Super Sculpey over a foil armature painted with acrylics and sealed. The "drink" is made of a two part polymer that has been colored with pigment dyes.

Puffin-Tini

Yet another "Tini"! I love these birds and their colorful beaks that contrast against their black and white bodies. The feet were so fun to do on this piece. Super Sculpey over a foil armature, painted and sealed. A parasol was added to the "drink" which is made from a two part polymer then colored with pigment dyes.

Utahraptor

This sculpt is one of my most detailed to date. I created this 12" figure sculpt using a multi-piece approach. I sculpted the arms, legs, tail, head, body, teeth and claws all separately and integrated them all together as one. Super Sculpey over a foil armature painted with acrylics and sealed. I then mounted him to a stained base for stability and display.

Halloween Kitty-Kat Tini

I created this piece to sell at a Halloween themed craft sale. He was very fun to make especially the stripes. Super Sculpey over a foil armature then painted with acrylics and sealed. The "drink" is made from a two part polymer that has been colored with pigment dyes.

Toucan-Tini

Yet another piece from my "Tinis" series. Again I love all the colors that toucans have. The beak was a challenge, but that's the point! it was fun! Super Sculpey over a foil armature painted with acrylics and sealed. A Parasol was added to the "drink" which is made from a two part polymer and colored with pigment dyes.

Zombie Rat

Every year for Halloween we would have a Halloween set-up along with a decorated front porch that was full of all sorts of spooky props. This was one prop that I designed and sculpted for the porch. Super Sculpey over a foil armature and fishing line was used for the whiskers.

Honey Badger

This was a sculpt that I did as a commission for a friend of mine that was a gift to her grandparents. The teeny-tiny little blue bug on his nose was the hardest part of this sculpt. Super Sculpey over foil armature, painted with acrylics and sealed.

"Eddie" the Boston Terrier

This sculpture was a commission for a friend of mine of her friend's Boston Terrier Eddie sitting in a wine glass holding a carnation
